Albert Park Primary School
Albert Park PS
Housing one of the earliest examples of buildings of its type in Melbourne, the community at Albert Park Primary School were acutely aware of their responsibility to maintain their facilities. Internal classrooms and office areas were exhibiting considerable paint breakdown, the effect of building movement and wear, with solid plaster cracking and a fading of previously used solvent based finishes.
Furlong Painting began with a rejuvenation strategy for all First Floor surfaces, addressing surface disrepair and establishing sound surfaces for a new paint finish. The opportunity was used to transition from solvent based to water based finishes which would have a significant effect on air quality for the students, staff and community members in the short term and onwards. Subsequent works has seen Furlong Painting refresh the entire ground floor areas to deliver a consistent and contemporary colour palette to the school befitting a building of such character.
