Trinity Primary School in the inner suburb of Richmond has a mixture of long standing administrative and classroom facilities combined with more modern recently constructed classroom and Library spaces.
The internal areas exhibited a colour scheme that did not match more recent works, delivering a dark tone rather than a preferred light and spacious feel.
As a part of the Furlong Partner Process, we sat with school leadership to determine the exact needs and develop a plan that would achieve the outcome in a cost effective way. Working at most convenient times for the school, the result was a consistent, contemporary colour scheme.
School was looking very tired and needed an entire repaint. Much of it needed resurfacing and complete colour changes. I had heard Tony speak at our Principal conference and had met a number of Principals who had spoken highly of him. Tony was a great person to deal with, friendly and reliable and able to offer great advice to on colours and finish. He was always available to drop in or talk to on the phone. Neill, who oversaw the painting managed the team well when they were onsite and were very approachable and accommodating to any of our changing needs.– Peter Bartley, Principal – Trinity School Richmond
Amongst the strength and beauty that exposed timber has brought to this contemporary school on the Mornington Peninsula, lies a very real coating challenge. Externally stained timbers do not respond well to the sun?s ultra violet impact and to add to the challenge the original stain finishes were discontinued from sale, requiring the sourcing of new products to match the original. Furlong Painting was chosen as partner in this challenge, putting together a long term paint maintenance proposal to address these specific needs.
As part of a staged strategy, all surfaces were addressed, with a specific allocation over a 6 year program for substrates most vulnerable to UV degradation. For surfaces with a high UV exposure, the strategy included a transition to a decorative finish to enable more effective paint maintenance.
My experience over many years with Furlong Painting has always been a positive one. The team are always open, honest, and helpful in explaining the pros and cons of different paints, finishes and colours so that I am always able to pick the best product for the best result within my budget.
I especially like the assistance received before and during the works as well as the follow up after the job has been completed. The painting team who complete the work do an excellent job with brilliant attention to detail. I have never been disappointed by the fast and efficient service provided.
With a backdrop of new school buildings and a desire to introduce a consistent colour palette across all facilities, Balwyn High School engaged Furlong Painting to repaint the school facilities both internally and externally.
Buildings dating from early 1960s through to more modern facilities included a variety of substrates and dictated specific preparation and painting strategies with selective finishes to maximize the life of the coating.
A colour consultancy process led to a colour palette that would bring a consistency across the entire school.
Furlong were able to work around a busy school environment with minimal disruptions and minimal room changing. Their high quality of work and pleasant, courteous personnel were easy to deal with, flexible and respectful of our needs.– Deborah Harman, Principal – Balwyn High School
